Our family.briefly stated

Some have asked questions about our family, so here are a few basics.

Daniel's mom, Linda, is 54. She was born in Illinois and was adopted and moved to Oregon. Shortly thereafter her family moved back to Colorado, where she raised on a farm near Longmont. Her father was a farmer/rancher, and her mother was an elementary school teacher. Linda has a Bachelors degree from the University of Colorado at Denver, with an English major. She has worked as a legal secretary and a paralegal. She loves to read and watch movies. She has chosen to remain at home with Madeline during her preschool years, as she did with Daniel and Christie.

The Mauser family Christmas 2002

Tom, 54, was born and raised in Finleyville, a small town 15 miles south of Pittsburgh, PA. His father was a coal miner who died of cancer in 1962, when Tom was 10. His mother was a housewife who then did odd jobs cleaning homes and offices to keep solvent after her husband's early death. Tom attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he received a Bachelors degree with majors in Political Science and Urban Studies. He also earned a Masters degree in Public Administration at the University. Tom is a planning manager for the Colorado Dept. of Transportation, overseeing planning and grants related to public transit, rail, bicycles and pedestrians.

Christie and Madeline, Oct. 2003

Christie is 20 years old and is a sophomore in college. She enjoys hiking, snow shoeing and music.

You can read about Madeline's adoption elsewhere on this site.

We are a close family. We enjoy vacations together, with Glenwood Springs (and its' huge hot springs pool) being one of our favorite places to get away. We very much believe in trying to have dinner together as a family as much as possible, as it's an important time to share our lives. It was that way with Daniel and remains the case today.
